Tech for Good Program
Digitalzooks takes on one to two projects every quarter to build and support technology for registered NGOs, Bible communities and ministries, and founder-led small businesses in their first two years, in the United States and Nigeria. Our service is free.
This policy applies to both Digitalzooks companies:
Digitalzooks LLC, registered in the United StatesDigitalzooks LTD, registered in NigeriaWhy we do it
Good causes often run on outdated or missing technology because they cannot afford to fix it. We use the skills we sell every day to close that gap for organizations doing work we believe in, and for young businesses getting started.
The program runs in both countries where Digitalzooks is registered: the United States and Nigeria. Organizations based in either country can apply.
Four ways we help
Websites
Design, build or rebuild of an organization’s website.
Platforms and systems
Tools for events, registrations, members, content or internal work.
Technical support
Fixes, updates and help keeping an existing site or system running.
Advice
Guidance on choosing, setting up or improving technology.
Three kinds of organization
Registered NGOs and non-profits
With proof of registration (for example, CAC registration in Nigeria, or 501(c)(3) status or state nonprofit registration in the United States).
Bible communities and ministries
With evidence of active work, such as regular meetings, outreach or published teaching.
Small businesses under two years old
That are founder-led, with proof of when they started, such as a registration certificate. Our support comes with no obligation to hire us later.
We do not take on
- businesses more than two years old, and the commercial arms of NGOs
- political parties, campaigns or candidates
- individuals or personal projects
- organizations whose work conflicts with our values or the law
What you can count on
A note on costs. We may ask the organization to pay third-party costs such as software, domain names and hosting. We decide case by case whether to charge these or cover them, and agree it in writing before work starts.
Six steps, start to finish
Apply
The organization tells us who they are, what they do and what they need, by email to [email protected].
Review
We check eligibility and fit, and reply within 10 working days.
Agree the scope
We agree in writing what we will build, the timeline, any costs the organization covers, and who on their side gives content and approvals.
Build
Our team delivers the work as we would for a paying client.
Hand over
We train the organization’s team, hand over logins and ownership, and provide the agreed support period.
Record
We log the hours, the estimated value of the work and what it helps the organization do.
How we choose
We choose projects at our discretion. Meeting the criteria above does not guarantee support. We look at:
How many people the work will help, and how much.
Whether the organization has someone to give content, make decisions and keep the work going after handover.
Whether the need matches our skills.
Whether we can deliver it well this quarter.
Program lead
The project manager assigned to the program at the time runs it, reviews applications and tracks the work. The CEO approves each project.
Reporting
We record every project. Each year we publish a short summary on our website showing totals only: projects completed by country and by type of organization, and the estimated value of the work. We do not name the organizations or businesses we support in public unless they agree.
Impact report on request
Funders, grant makers, development agencies and partner organizations can request a detailed impact report. It covers the projects completed, the organizations supported, the work delivered and its results. We share it in confidence, and we name beneficiaries only with their consent.
Standards we follow
- Nothing in return. We do not ask for payment for our service, favors, endorsements or future business. Beneficiaries do not have to promote us.
- Fair selection. We assess every application against this policy. Registered NGOs can apply whatever their faith background. Staff do not accept gifts or payments in connection with selection.
- Conflicts of interest. Staff declare any personal link to an applicant, such as a leadership role, and someone without that link reviews the application.
- Data protection and confidentiality. We treat each organization’s information as confidential, use it only to deliver the project, and follow data protection law in both countries, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
- Safeguarding. Where a project involves information or images of children or vulnerable adults, we follow the organization’s safeguarding policy and handle that material with extra care.
- Ownership. At handover, the organization owns its website or platform, its content and its accounts.
Separate from Organization Partners
Organization Partners are long-term relationships built for shared growth, where both sides benefit. The Tech for Good Program is giving, where we expect nothing back. We keep the two separate.
